Coworking Space Grows 23% Yearly. Why? There's Something in the Air.
In the near future, most of your coworkers might be coworking. And, no, we don’t mean collaborating on a project with teammates in a traditional cubicle. The office environment of the future, the coworking space, offers members a less traditional, more “productive and collaborative” working environment for “people who are self-employed or working for different employers, typically to share equipment, ideas, and knowledge,” according to Coworker.com.
The number of coworking spaces has been growing at an average annual rate of 23% since 2010, according to a report by investment management company JLL. And there’s no indication that coworking space growth is slowing down. AllWork estimates that by 2020, 50% of large companies will have some form of shared office space. By 2022, there will be over 30,000 coworking spaces and 5.1 million coworking members worldwide, according to a forecast by GCUC.
Leading coworking industry publication AllWorkwrites about Prolitec scents in modern coworking space design
The coworking space trend has taken the professional world by storm, with its unique philosophy, structure, and, most importantly, an innovative, tailored office design. A recent survey by Coworker.com revealed that professionals cited an ergonomic work environment as one of the things they appreciated the most about their coworking space. In practical terms, an ergonomic coworking space is designed to appeal to its members’ five senses.
The most successful coworking spaces have created a productive, comfortable environment for members with thoughtful design that includes details from stand-up desks to carefully cultivated background music playlists and even ambient scenting programs.
“In my own interactions with other coworking operations throughout the country, we all agreed that adding technologically controlled scenting to our environment is an asset for client retention and branding. After all, we’re in a competitive industry and this extra element is yet another way to separate ourselves from the pack.”
– Jim Kern, Co-Founder of Stamford, CT-based Comradity
Adding pleasant fragrances to the workplace has been proven to enhance work performance and willingness to help. Not to mention how scent can relieve anxiety and improve mood and relaxation.
